1.67 ct oval mixed cut tanzanite

This remarkable natural Tanzanite is a proud product of our own in-house lapidary studio. Originally acquired as an unattractive but overly shallow 3.95-carat Portuguese cut, the stone suffered from “windowing”—an optical flaw where light leaks straight through the center rather than reflecting back to the eye (see the last photo). Recognizing its untapped potential, we chose to sacrifice more than half of its original weight to unlock its true soul. The gem was meticulously re-designed and precision-recut into a 1.67-carat mixed-cut beauty.

The results are nothing short of spectacular. By correcting the pavilion angles in a step cut pattern and modifying the facet arrangement, the light is now perfectly locked within the stone. This transformation has dramatically intensified its face-up brilliant appearance, revealing a velvety depth of rich indigo-blue and vibrant violet flashes that dance with every movement. A true collector’s piece that perfectly embodies the philosophy of quality over quantity.
