Small, round, color-changing cat’s-eye alexandrite. Having two phenomena in a single gemstone—color change and the cat’s-eye effect—is quite rare.
The first two photos were taken at 5500K (daylight), and the third photo at 3500K (incandescent/candlelight).
The first part of the video was filmed at 5500K and transitions to 3500K; the color shifts from a grayish-bluish-green to light purple (starting at approx. 30 seconds). The chatoyancy effect manifests as “milk and honey” (with a larger light source) or a cat’s-eye (with a smaller light source).
This alexandrite is untreated and certified by the IGI laboratory in Antwerp.
