Pear shaped certified red beryl

We have managed to acquire a number of rare faceted red beryls (bixbite) from the old stock of a retired gemstone dealer in Idar-Oberstein, Germany. We traveled to Germany in person to collect them.

Red beryl is generally transparent but can be translucent when heavily included. Like emerald, its clarity can be affected by “fingerprints,” two-phase inclusions, fractures, solid crystal inclusions, color zoning, and growth characteristics. Clarity treatments for red beryl are virtually the same as for emerald: fractures are filled with colorless oils or synthetic resins. Red beryl does not respond to heat treatment.

This red beryl is certified by IGI Antwerp but was removed from its packaging for photography purposes.
